For my Mother - Wendy's letter
To my mother,
I know there have been times throughout the years when there has been distance between us, both physical and emotional, but the bond between us as mother and daughter can never be severed.
As a child, I thought you were magnificent. I wanted to be around you all the time, do the things you did, and I couldn't wait to be a mommy just like you. I remember the rare occasions when you and Dad went out and I would watch you do your make up. I love those memories.
You always had an encouraging word when I was down, a shoulder to cry on, and words of wisdom when I had a problem. And you ALWAYS had an answer for whatever question I had.
I remember thinking to myself, “Man, I hope I can answer my kids' questions like that someday.” Through all the ups and
downs, the fights, the struggles, the heartaches, the accomplishments, the happy events, I've always loved you, even when I said I didn't.
You've been my center, my guiding light and my protector. And now that I'm an adult with children of my own, our relationship has shifted to friendship. I love this new period in our lives! I hope I will be as wonderful of a mom to my kids
as you were to me. You will always be my mommy, my protector and my friend. I love you.
Your Loving Daughter,
