Air Conditioning was first invented by Willis Carrier. It was a foggy Pittsburgh train platform, when waiting for a train in the year 1962; he thought that there is a method by which the dry air can be moistened. He thought about it and then after some research the modern day air conditioning was invented. As the name suggests, the air conditioning is modern day equipment, and can be found in almost any house of the world, which uses modern electrical and electronics component to cool the surrounding air using technologies like water cooling technology or vapor compressor technology. There are various types of these systems, and one of this is the cycle split system air conditioning technique.

Working Principle

Under the broad category of HVAC systems, which stands for heating, ventilating and air conditioning system, reverse cycle split air conditioning system falls. These systems use a heat pump unit, which is basically a refrigeration unit by recycling the air inside the cooling chamber and circulating them to cool the air. This air is then propelled forward and is mixed with cool air drawn from outside, and a comparatively cool air is produced. The most common method, and is mostly used in refrigeration units and in ice cream makers or cold chambers, as they can create a very low temperature which is good for storage purposes.

These can also be used for home air conditioning, as they also have a wide range of power variation.   • Switch off the machine when not in use,
  • Do not leave the machine on when the doors are open, as these machines are not equipped to work in open environment, and will fail or even the machine might be damaged beyond repair,
  • Clean the machine at a regular interval for effective air conditioning,
  • Attentions should be also taken to keep the inside chamber of the machine clean, including the pads and other materials from dusts,
  • It is advised to use the machine at an optimum temperature, which is different for different manufacturers and is generally around 25 degrees Centigrade.

Advantages & Disadvantages

The system is very popular, and one of the most used machines these days. The main advantage is their power to cool the surrounding which is very low to moderate ones. These systems are used in cold storages too, and are used to maintain temperature few degrees below zero, and are also used in homes which works in generally in the range of 18 to 30 centigrade. Also they are of wide range and are ranged from less than a ton to few hundred tons.

Though they are advantageous; one of the main disadvantages being the cost of these machines and the installation costs which are generally very high. Also, they are not very environment friendly, since they use huge power, and also use greenhouses gasses to achieve the results. Although the modern technology is making them more efficient and environment friendly; it is yet to see a fully environment friendly device.
