Tips to Making Your First Book a Bestseller




If you are trying to concentrate on completing your first or your next book, you need to keep in mind that the market will always favor the books which have latest trends and hot topics. If someone picks up your book, there will be a few questions in their mind before they make the purchase. You need to understand if the book is relevant to your readers and if it answers specific topics. Most importantly, will the book entertain the readers? If you are an author, you will have to tap into the minds of the readers before publishing the book. These questions need to be answered much before the readers make their purchase.


The topic should be relevant


The main idea or topic of the book should be something people will want to know about. If you carry out a market research and list down the top 100 books that readers are into today, you will be able to gain an insight into the type of content that is working. This is the content your readers are expecting to read from your book. This does not mean the title should be catchy but the entire content should be worth the time of the reader. It has to work with the expectations of the reader. It also does not mean that you should pursue topics that you are not passionate or keen about.


You should know what you are writing about


As an author, you need to have thorough knowledge of the topic you are covering. A lot of people look for bios of the authors. Even before readers pick up the book, they will make a decision about your experience and expertise in the subject. You need to pick a subject which you are passionate about and have experience is some manner. The readers should be able to relate to the fact that you are writing about something you very well know. You are the author and you are the brand. You need to remember that the book will sell if you spruce up your writing with knowledge and expertise. You do not want to be associated with bad books, hence, do the homework before you start the writing process. Writing requires discipline and you need to have a daily routine where you commit a few hours to your book without fail.


Once you have decided on the topic you want to write about, you need to understand that it should not be some information which can be obtained for free. Why would anyone pay for your book then? If you want people to purchase your book, you need to ensure that it is lucrative by putting your best foot forward. Make sure that your book is the best work out there and it should give something to the readers that free information or books will not. Never rush this process, take your time and give your best to the book.
